Georgia have downed 10 Russian combat planes

TBILISI. Aug 9 (Interfax) - Georgian air defense forces shot down four Russian attack planes over the town of Gori on August 9, thus bringing to total number of Russian aircraft downed over Georgia to ten, Georgian National Security Council Secretary Alexander Lomaya told
journalists on Saturday morning.

"Georgian military units have downed a total of 10 Russian combat planes over the past two days," Lomaya said. Georgian forces keep control of all the earlier occupied positions
in South Ossetia, including Tskhinvali, he said.

"Moreover, our troops have attacked Russian occupation forces in
Java," Lomaya said. Lomaya noted that Georgian forces have not yet come into direct contact with Russian ones, "but the latter are trying to hit Georgian positions with artillery fire from Java."

"I would also like to say that Russia has started open propaganda warfare against Georgia. The Russians have not succeeded in capturing any positions in Tskhinvali, and therefore they are delivering cunning air strikes upon Georgian cities to sow panic among the population and
break itss resistance spirit," Lomaya said.

Russian military deployed in the region had earlier confirmed the loss of several planes, without specifying their number.
